Since 2010, The Nature Conservancy, the U.S. Geological Survey, and the Upper Midwest & Great Lakes Landscape Conservation Cooperative (UMGL LCC) have worked collaboratively with a broad network of partners in developing Great Lakes Inform into a platform for effective data and information sharing, integration, and delivery to support collaborative adaptive management in the Great Lakes conservation sector. Funding supporting initial development of the site was provided by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Upper Midwest Great Lakes LCC, the U.S. EPA’s Great Lakes Restoration Initiative, and the Conservancy’s Great Lakes Fund for Partnership in Conservation Science and Economics. In initiating this project, The Nature Conservancy and its partners drew on the Conservancy’s experience with using collaborative adaptive management and information management and delivery to guide its conservation projects. The Conservancy is now in the process of establishing a governance structure that assures long-term development and maintenance of Great Lakes Inform by a regional body.
